My grandfather Julius A. Buerger, built and launched a barber shop supply company in downtown Denver in the late 1800s. His building at 1720 Champa Street became a symbol of quality and integrity-values I carried forward when I entered the real estate profession at the age of 19. Within three years, I was the top producing Denver real estate broker out of 858 associates at Moore and Company. A short time later, I founded my own company Buerger and Company Real Estate, carrying forward the stone medallion from my grandfather's building as our logo.
Early in my career, I knocked on about 1,500 doors a month to find someone that wanted to make a move. I was building relationships and a reputation grounded in authentic real estate service. Today, I still knock on doors to keep in touch with homeowners and to provide personal real estate service answering their questions. My real estate career has allowed me to stay active in community events and the real estate profession. My service to the local, state, and national REALTOR® Associations has been incredibly rewarding, serving on Statistics Committees, Political Action Committees, Grievance Committees, Professional Standards Committees, and Leadership Academies.
Over the years, I've found that knowledge coupled with great service is everything. Even though I was recognized in 2018 as earning the REALTOR® Emeritus status (40+ years of consecutive service), I continue to learn in the practice of real estate every day. I am a Graduate of the Real Estate Institute (GRI), a seasoned Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and currently one of around 50 Certified Real Estate Brokerage Managers (CRB) in the state of Colorado. Another achievement that reflects a deep commitment to outstanding service is the C2EX endorsement I have earned from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). It is also a pleasure to serve in the Town of Parker, Colorado as a town Ambassador.
After 49 years of practicing real estate, I still find a great deal of purpose in matching the right home to the right buyer and getting them to the closing table. Representing sellers and helping them earn a top-dollar price, at the right time is incredibly rewarding. The work ethic hasn’t faded, and I won’t be slowing down any time soon. Our client service is conducted at the highest level possible, and company growth is in our future.
Growing up in Cherry Hills, Arapahoe County, CO, was full of adventure every day. My brothers and I would ride our mini bikes miles and miles west bound along the High Line Canal, convinced as kids in our boyhood adventures that we had reached the foothills. We built tree forts and underground forts, pretended we were scuba divers using garden hoses, mouthpieces, and duct tape attached to beach balls. We floated down the canal in big truck inner tubes and rode our bicycles to Cinderella City (an old shopping center long gone) at least once a week. We were outside and busy from sunup to sundown. Sports were a big part of my world-snow skiing, baseball, football, wrestling and Quarter midget-racing. The drive to push boundaries never faded, and it carried into my career.
My love for adventure has stayed strong over the years. I've been fortunate to be very competitive when I raced ¼ midgets as a child, motorcycles in motocross racing, jet boats, hydroplane race boats, vintage Formula Fords (Lola T-200), and F2000 open-wheel cars (RF-91 Van Diemen). I was typically in the top three chasing the win and took 2nd place two years in a row in the region. Those were thrilling days.
In 2014, during a follow-up visit to a medical volunteer study I had participated in 2009, a CT scan revealed that-even though I was feeling great and symptom-free-I had a rare and aggressive cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. I was one of six individuals in the Denver area with this type of cancer. I underwent surgery to remove a tumor sitting on my liver, followed by 35 rounds of radiation. While I was working with limited hours, Bonnie stepped up in a big way-getting me through one of the toughest times of my life and keeping our office and business strong. Since then: NED (No Evidence of Disease). These days, time with Bonnie, my daughter Kelly, her husband Tanner, and my grandson Hudson are the light of my life. We work hard, snow ski, scuba dive, pleasure boat, water ski, bicycle, and make time for working out at health clubs. As family and partners our strengths compliment each other and we continue to provide excellent service to those we serve.
Sincerely,
